The VXR series, supplied in models from 7 to 100 W with the widest continuous input voltage range on the market, between 9 and 60 VDC, and with transient operation between 6 and 80 VDC, is optimized for a wide range of applications, from military ground vehicles to commercial and military aircraft, including the unique power requirements of unmanned aerial and ground systems.
The VXR series utilizes VPT's advanced, patent-pending encapsulation technology. This proprietary encapsulation process incorporates EMI shielding and dual-sided thermal conduction. The integral epoxy encapsulation is highly resistant to chemicals, solvents, and saline environments, and is fully compatible with high-volume manufacturing processes such as wave soldering, solvent cleaning, high-pressure spraying, and aqueous washing.
“The VXR series focuses on reliability and efficiency by utilizing a wide-range, low-noise, fixed-frequency topology,” said Jeremy Ferrell, Director of Standard Product Engineering at VPT. “We’ve achieved this high efficiency across a broad input voltage range with a proprietary precision-controlled synchronous rectification topology. This high-efficiency design also translates into lower thermal management requirements. We’ve also added a proprietary control loop design that provides fast transient response without the need for optical isolation,” Ferrell added. “For customers working with noise-sensitive applications, we’ve developed the VXR series of EMI filters with current ratings from 2 to 20 A, specifically designed to meet MIL-STD-461 and DO-160 requirements when used with our VXR series DC/DC converters.”.
