The solution simplifies power conversion design by eliminating the need for external isolated bias sources for gate drivers. This innovation offers the industry's smallest footprint and reduces the bill of materials (BOM), addressing the critical challenge of achieving maximum power density, especially in demanding 800 V systems.

Allegro's Power-Thru™ isolated gate drivers integrate signal and power through a single isolation barrier. This revolutionary approach reduces system common-mode capacitance by up to 15 times, addressing one of the primary sources of noise that impact efficiency. Furthermore, they offer up to a 20 dB improvement in electromagnetic interference (EMI) performance, increasing overall system efficiency and eliminating countless hours spent by engineers troubleshooting noise issues.

In addition to addressing the physical foundations of noise, the expanded Power-Thru portfolio is designed to solve critical business challenges. To ensure supply chain resilience, both the new AHV85003/AHV85043 chipset and the embedded AHV85311 solution support a multi-vendor SiC strategy. With selectable gate-source voltages (Vgs) of 15 V, 18 V, and 20 V, and adjustable regulated negative voltage, designers can easily switch between SiC transistors from different manufacturers without redesigning their boards.

The portfolio now offers two deployment paths. The integrated AHV85311 solution, which includes the isolation transformer, provides an all-in-one approach to accelerate time-to-market. The new AHV85003/AHV85043 chipset allows for optimized costs and physical design by selecting an external transformer tailored to specific isolation requirements.

“We are redefining what engineers should expect from a gate driver,” said Vijay Mangtani, Vice President and General Manager of High Voltage Products at Allegro MicroSystems. “With Power-Thru, we solved the fundamental physical problem of noise in high-voltage systems. Now, by offering both a chipset and an integrated solution, we provide our customers with a complete set of tools: plug-and-play speed or granular control, with the same revolutionary efficiency and freedom to use their preferred SiC FETs.”
