It can be controlled with block (trapezoidal), sinusoidal, or vector switching when interfaced with a microprocessor. The A4919 is designed as a simple direct-drive gate driver for the commercial and industrial markets, providing LDOs for peripherals or a microprocessor and offering complete switching flexibility.
A single charge pump regulator provides full gate control (>10 V) with supply voltages as low as 7 V and allows the A4919 to operate with reduced gate control at supply voltages below 5.5 V. A startup capacitor is used to provide the upstream supply voltage required for N-channel HS (High Side) MOSFETs.
A logic-level input is provided for each of the six power MOSFETs in the three-phase bridge, allowing motors to be driven with any switching scheme defined by an external controller. The power MOSFETs are protected against cross-conduction by integrated crossover control.
Short-to-supply and short-to-ground detection are provided by independent drain-source voltage monitors on each MOSFET. Cut-off faults, undervoltage supply, and chip overtemperature conditions are indicated by a single open-drain fault output. Product variants include a 5.0 V or 3.3 V LDO, or an option without an LDO that instead provides a voltage input that can be used to monitor an external voltage source.
The A4919 is supplied in a 28-pin TSSOP power module (LP package) and a 28-pin 5 mm × 5 mm × 0.90 mm QFN package, both with an exposed die for improved thermal performance. Both packages are lead-free (Pb) with a 100% matte lead coating (suffix T).
