Renesas is introducing three new integrated circuits for motors using this technology. The RAA306012 is a 65V, 3-phase intelligent driver that can be used independently and paired with various Renesas MCUs or other sources. The RAJ306101 integrates a 32-bit Renesas RX13T MCU with the RAA306012 in a single package, reducing board space. The RAJ306102 integrates a 16-bit Renesas RL78/G1F MCU with the RAA306012, providing similar integration benefits.
The ability to deliver full torque at zero speed without sensors is made possible by two innovations from Renesas. Enhanced Inductive Sensing (EIS) provides stable position detection when the motor is stationary. When the motor is operating at extremely low speeds, Motor Rotor Position Identification (MRI) is used. At higher speeds, the new integrated circuits for motors utilize conventional methods. Both the EIS and MRI algorithms incorporate proprietary technology developed by Renesas.
