Silvestro Fimiani, senior director of product marketing at Power Integrations, states: "Our new InnoSwitch3-TN devices support the high output current required by smart connected appliances with efficiencies of up to 90%, compared to traditional approaches such as buck regulators, which typically have efficiencies below 60%. The InnoSwitch3-TN integrated circuits incorporate all feedback components and support isolated, non-isolated, and single- or multi-output designs to offer the most compact and flexible auxiliary power solution.".
The advanced InnoSwitch3-TN flyback driver offers consistent efficiency across the entire load range and a no-load power consumption of less than 5 mW. The flexibility provided by FluxLink™ communication technology allows for easy configuration of positive and negative outputs. InnoSwitch3-TN ICs can be used in a single-output 5V power supply, with two positive output channels, or with both positive and negative channels, without any external feedback components. The safety-enhancing FluxLink technology also guarantees reliable synchronous rectification and constant output voltage and current. The low forward voltage drop of the SR MOSFET ensures excellent cross-regulation performance. Comprehensive safety features include overcurrent and overtemperature protection at the output. The small MinSOP package and the low number of external components required for a complete power supply design make the InnoSwitch3-TN ideal for compact implementations.
