To accommodate larger displays (7 inches and above) used in point-of-sale systems, information kiosks, and similar environments,
the FT810Q features an 18-bit RGB interface and resistive touch functionality, while the FT811Q also has an 18-bit RGB interface and is designed for capacitive touchscreen systems (with 5-point touch capability). These are complemented by the FT812Q and FT813Q, which are used with resistive and capacitive touchscreens, respectively, each featuring 24-bit RGB.
As a direct result of algorithm improvements, the FT81xQ series devices offer significantly sharper video playback. Furthermore, it is much easier to rotate the screen 90°, enabling both landscape and portrait orientations—a clear advantage when these ICs are used in portable designs. Memory capacity has also been increased from 256 KB to 1 MB, and a quad SPI interface accelerates data transfer speeds. They can work with various palettes, including 16-bit and 32-bit colors with transparency. Extra-large ROM fonts have also been added, providing a wider range of text options.
These devices are highly compatible with the previous generation of resistive (FT800) and capacitive (FT801) EVE ICs. Their features result in improved performance, including JPEG loading 500 to 1,000 times faster than previously possible, as well as the ability to plot up to 16 pixels per clock cycle (compared to 4 for the FT800/801). Firmware memory operations (such as copy, fill, and CRC) are 2 to 4 times faster thanks to the use of tuned internal loops, while the CMD SNAPSHOT function is now hundreds of times faster. An analog pin on the FT812/FT813 allows monitoring of temperature or lighting data (for adjustments) and can be used to detect the presence of sound.
The FT810Q and FT811Q are supplied in 48-pin VQFN packages, while the FT812Q and FT813Q are supplied in 45-pin VQFN packages. For more information on the FT81x series and other EVE devices.
