InnovatorsThe first products available using H-PSOF package technology are the OptiMOS™ 40V T2 power transistors, offering up to 300A of current capacity and RDS(on) values as low as 0.76 mW.
These high-performance power electronics components help automotive system designers meet government regulations mandating the highest automotive energy efficiency standards while also requiring reductions in overall emissions. To meet these standards, power MOSFETs with current capacity above 200A and RDS(on) values below 1 mW are needed to reduce conduction losses and improve overall efficiency. Until now, MOSFETs to meet these requirements were not available in the automotive market.

With the introduction of the H-PSOF package, Infineon sets a new benchmark by providing 40V power MOSFETs with up to 300A current capacity and an RDS(on) of 0.76 mW. Furthermore, the average dimensions and height of the H-PSOF package are reduced compared to the standard D2PAK (A-263) package commonly used in these applications. The H-PSOF package is approximately 20% smaller and nearly half the height of the D2PAK.

The H-PSOF package will allow automotive electronics manufacturers to better serve the market for high-current applications. This includes applications such as battery management for hybrid vehicles, as well as EPS, active alternators, and other heavy-duty applications that enable greater efficiency and lower emissions.

The H-PSOF package also offers assembly and manufacturing advantages. Its special design ensures good solder wetting, guaranteeing reliable solder joints. Furthermore, automated optical inspection (AOI), typically part of an SMT production line, is possible.
The first product available using the H-PSOF package is the IPLU300N04S4-R7, a member of Infineon's 40V OptiMOS T2 automotive power transistor family, which is the benchmark for energy efficiency, CO2 reduction, and electric drive applications. Power devices in the H-PSOF package are qualified according to AEC-Q101 standards.
