The Industry 4.0 revolution enables smarter factories to increase productivity and manufacturing flexibility. IO-Link sensors allow this revolution to bring intelligence and control to the factory floor. Sensors are increasingly necessary to provide greater functionality while ensuring robust communications. Power is also critical because these sensors are small and have difficulty dissipating heat. The dual-channel MAX14827 250 mA transceiver meets these requirements while integrating high-voltage functions commonly found in industrial sensor integration, including controllers and regulators. It features two ultra-low-power drivers with active reverse polarity protection to reduce downtime.

For sensors using a microcontroller, an SPI™ interface with comprehensive diagnostics is available. For IO-Link operation, a three-wire UART interface is provided, enabling interconnection to the microcontroller's UART. Finally, a UART/SPI multiplexing option allows the use of the microcontroller's serial interface for shared SPI and UART interfaces. The device includes integrated 3.3V and 5V linear regulators for low-noise analog/logic rails.

Key Advantages
• Low On-Resistance (RON): 2.5 Ohm RON (typical) saves over 50% of power dissipation
• Small WLP package: saves 60% of space
• 65V Abs Max: enables flexible TVS protection selection
• High integration and configurability: Reduces SKUs with selectable PP, NPN, and PNP outputs
