The MAX20069 provides the industry's first solution that integrates four I2C-controlled 150mA LED backlight drivers and a four-output thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) bias on a single chip.
The MAX20069 supports larger screen sizes and higher resolutions by providing both positive analog supply voltage (PAVVD) and negative analog supply voltage (NAVDD), both necessary for low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) panels that offer higher resolution and lower cost. The IC also supports the high currents required by next-generation displays, with 150 mA per channel in the four-channel LED driver for 8-inch or larger displays and higher resolutions. The MAX20069 operates from -40°C to 105°C ambient temperature and is available in a 6 mm x 6 mm TQFN package.
Key Advantages
: High Integration: Reduces design footprint, provides four-channel TFT-LCD polarization plus four 150mA LED backlight drivers.
The single board supports panels from multiple manufacturers via resistor or I2C programmable sequencing to further reduce the solution size.
It uses 25 percent of the microcontroller (MCU) register bits compared to the closest competitor's solution, eliminating the need for a more powerful and expensive MCU in display designs.
Performance: Provides twice the dimming ratio compared to the closest competitor's offering, maintaining panel readability during transitions to different lighting conditions; the MAX20069 supports higher resolution through a 10,000:1 pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming ratio at 200Hz.
Built-in safety and diagnostics: An easy-to-use I2C interface quickly identifies problems, instructs the microcontroller to adjust to the conditions, or alerts the driver to a fault.
Electromagnetic interference (EMI) mitigation: The 2.2 MHz switching frequency, spread spectrum, and phase-shift capabilities help mitigate interference and emissions.
Automotive infotainment designers can now upgrade to larger, higher-resolution displays more easily with the MAX20069 from Maxim Integrated Products, Inc.
