Furthermore, as reducing standby power consumption becomes a significant challenge, there is a growing need for DC-DC converter integrated circuits to offer greater efficiency under light load (low power) conditions. To meet these demands, ROHM has developed products that achieve higher efficiency in an even smaller package than current SOP-J8 products (JEDEC standard: SOIC8 equivalent).
The new converter integrated circuits offer an output current of 1 A to 3 A in the compact TSOT23 package (2.8 mm × 2.9 mm). This reduces the component area by up to 72% compared to the standard SOP-J8 package (4.9 mm × 6.0 mm), contributing to the miniaturization of power supply blocks. Furthermore, the adoption of a flip-chip TSOT23 package design in a lead frame enables high-efficiency operation by eliminating lead-wire resistance.
The BD9E105FP4-Z, BD9E202FP4-Z, and BD9E304FP4-LBZ also utilize a COT control mode during light-load operation. As a result, efficiency during light-load operation is improved compared to standard products, making them ideal for applications requiring low standby power consumption.
In the future, ROHM will continue to focus on developing products that leverage analog design technologies, which will contribute to greater miniaturization and energy efficiency in industrial and consumer equipment applications.

Product Information
In addition to integrated circuits, evaluation boards are also available along with various support tools that allow for immediate evaluation during application design.
Various support tools
• Spreadsheet: A calculation tool for application circuits that simplifies the design of external constants. By adjusting the values as described, users can determine the circuit parameters that meet the desired characteristics.
The spreadsheet is available for download from the "Tools" section of each product page on the ROHM website.
(BD9E105FP4-Z / BD9E304FP4-LBZ / BD9A201FP4-LBZ)
• ROHM Solution Simulator: a free simulation tool available on the ROHM website. Changing the external constants in the topology described in the datasheet allows you to determine the optimal solution for the frequency response (for a power supply).
