The Maxim MAX4002x devices, available from Mouser Electronics, are high-speed, single-supply comparators with a typical propagation delay of 280 ps and an extremely low overdrive dispersion of 25 ps (typical). These devices are compatible with the outputs of several widely used high-speed transimpedance amplifiers, such as the MAX40658, due to their common-mode input range of 1.5 V to VDD + 0.1 V. Both the MAX40025 and MAX40026 operate with a supply voltage of 2.7 V to 3.6 V.
The MAX4002x devices can also interface flexibly with many modern FPGAs and CPUs, as the device's output stage is specified for LVDS. This capability allows the comparators to help minimize power dissipation (aiding in system optimization), and the complementary outputs help suppress common-mode noise on each output line. Compared to single-ended outputs, the device's fully differential LVDS outputs offer the high-speed digital signaling and reduced EMI required for a variety of high-noise and low-noise designs.
Maxim's MAX4002x comparators are available in a compact, space-saving 1.218 mm × 0.818 mm WLP package (MAX40025) or an AEC-Q100 automotive-grade 2 mm × 2 mm TDFN package (MAX40026). For development purposes, Mouser is also distributing the MAX40025EVKIT evaluation kit with design options that allow engineers to easily modify the input termination.
The MAX4002x comparators are ideal for a wide range of applications, including LIDAR, radar and sonar; ToF sensors; high-speed differential line receivers; high-speed triggering in oscilloscopes; and communications equipment.
