as well as Nexperia's first 40V device in MLPAK56-WF, both with wettable (-WF) flanks to enable reliable inspection of solder joints and AOI, giving designers a range of MOSFETs that combine flexibility of choice, a smart balance between cost and performance, and the ability to rapidly increase high-performance production without compromising safety.
Vehicle architectures are evolving from ECU-based control, where each function has its own unit, to domain-based control, and now toward zonal architectures that consolidate applications under zonal control units. At the same time, the rise of electronically rich vehicles and the increasing integration of infotainment and smart features are leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to rethink traditional automotive design requirements to support advanced, consumer-style applications within vehicles. This shift is driving increased demand for MOSFETs in DC/DC converters, inverters, and battery management systems. Operating at lower temperatures, these systems can leverage cost-effective microconnected devices, such as Nexperia's new MLPAK33-WF and MLPAK56-WF. In addition to their balance between cost and performance, these new components meet traditional automotive design requirements: AEC-Q101 certification, robust performance, excellent plate-level reliability, and laterally wettable flanks that support automated optical inspection (AOI), making them ideal for the changing automotive landscape.
This new range allows designers to choose from a wide selection of micro-pin MOSFETs with various RDS(on) values offered in standardized sizes that simplify design and enable engineers to seamlessly migrate between different MOSFET packages, facilitating the adoption of Nexperia MLPAK devices. Furthermore, they offer robust performance, excellent switching capability (low peaks and swings), and high power density. The high avalanche rating of these MOSFETs reduces the need for free-wheeling diodes or bulky snubbers in switching circuits. This reduces the number of components and board area, helping to lower the overall system cost.
This launch is the first of many MLPAK products from Nexperia, reinforcing our commitment to high-performance, scalable MOSFET solutions. By combining proven quality and reliability with a robust supply chain, Nexperia empowers design engineers to deliver efficient systems with confidence.
