“Until now, there were no transmission speed sensors designed for an ISO 26262 certified design process,” explains Peter Wells, Product Line Manager for Speed Sensors at Allegro Microsystems. “We are proud that these three speed sensors can advance transmission safety technology and are excited to bring them to market.”
The A19520, A19530, and A19570 magnetic sensor integrated circuits measure speed and direction information and integrate EMC protection capacitors. The sensors also incorporate Allegro’s SolidSpeed Digital Architecture™, an innovative mixed-signal architecture that enables the widest dynamic range of air gap, vibration-versus-rotation distinction, stray field immunity, and highly adaptable performance.
Each product brings a unique offering to the family. The A19520 enables compatibility with existing transmission designs, thanks to its industry-leading performance and selectable output protocols. It utilizes Hall effect technology and a two-wire interface. The A19530 provides advanced signal processing, open/short sensing capability, and selectable output protocols of either speed or speed and direction. It utilizes the Hall effect and a three-wire interface. Using GMR and a two-wire interface, the A19570 delivers the same high algorithmic performance as its Hall effect counterparts, but with significantly larger air gaps and flexible device orientations.
Allegro, the market leader in magnetic sensor ICs, ships nearly 900 million magnetic sensor ICs annually. Allegro prides itself on its industry-leading quality, world-class application support, and expertise at all levels of the semiconductor design and manufacturing process.
