By offering an ultra-small power supply to drive new developments in machine learning and artificial intelligence, microsystem integrated circuits (μSLICs) deliver the benefits of the industry's best switching regulators in a form factor half the size of previous power modules.

The Maxim MAXM15462 and MAXM17532 modules are part of Maxim's Himalaya series of voltage regulation integrated circuits and power modules, enabling cooler, smaller, and simpler power solutions. The MAXM15642 module operates over a wide input voltage range of 4.5 V to 42 V and delivers up to 300 mA of output current over a programmable output voltage of 0.9 V to 5 V, while the MAXM17532 module has a slightly different input voltage range of 4 V to 42 V, and outputs up to 100 mA of current and an adjustable output voltage of 0.9 V to 5.5 V. Both modules integrate a driver, MOSFET, inductor, and compensation components into a tiny 2.6 mm × 3.0 mm × 1.5 mm package. Both also utilize peak current mode control architecture and offer a soft start function to reduce inrush current.

The MAXM15642 and MAXM17532 power modules, suitable for use in harsh electrical, mechanical, and thermal environments, offer increased energy efficiency, shock and vibration tolerance, high-temperature operation, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) protection. These devices feature an ambient operating temperature range of -40 to 125 degrees Celsius and incorporate hiccup overcurrent and overtemperature protection. Ideal for space-constrained applications in small enclosures, the modules provide a power solution to support Internet of Things (IIoT) sensors, motor encoders, network infrastructure equipment, 4mA to 20mA current loop sensors, and LDO (Low Dropout) regulator replacements.
