“Our portfolio of automotive-certified products, featuring 4th generation Switchtec switches, provides the lowest latency and high bandwidth needed to bridge the CPU and accelerator blocks used in ADAS applications,” said Krishna Mallampati, Associate Director of Marketing and Applications for Microchip’s Data Center Solutions business unit. “We are thrilled to culminate several years of collaboration with technology partners and customers to bring these solutions to market.”.

Switchtec's 4th generation PCIe switches provide the high-speed interconnection necessary for real-time, data-critical distributed processing in ADAS architectures. PCIe is emerging as the preferred IT interconnection solution for the automotive industry for the same reasons that explain its widespread use in the data center market. It delivers ultra-low latency and low-power bandwidth for CPUs and specialized accelerator devices.

“The approval of Microchip’s solutions to meet the demanding needs of the automotive market is a significant milestone in which NVIDIA has collaborated closely,” said Michael Truog, Director of Architectures for Automotive Platforms at NVIDIA. “Microchip’s automotive PCIe switches offer flexibility and advanced programmability, enabling high-speed connectivity between SoCs and GPUs within our NVIDIA DRIVE platform.”.
