The SmartMCD™ TB9M001FTG integrates four low-side controllers that function as relay controllers, enabling forward and reverse control of two brushed DC motors when using single-pole, two-way (SPDT) relays. In addition, the device features an integrated microcontroller (MCU) with an Arm® Cortex®-M0 core, 192 kB of Flash memory, and an additional 16 kB of Flash memory for data. It also includes two high-side controllers to support 5 V and 12 V loads to external components, a LIN transceiver for in-vehicle communication, and a fully integrated power management system that generates all necessary voltage levels from the car's battery. All these functions are integrated into a compact VQFN48 package, measuring only 7 mm x 7 mm (typical), allowing engineers to design more compact systems and reduce the number of components.

The TB9M001FTG is AEC-Q100 (Grade 1) certified and meets ASIL-A requirements. It includes robust safety features such as built-in fault detection for overcurrent (low-side controller, high-side controller), overvoltage, undervoltage, and thermal shutdown protection.

Sample shipments have already begun, and serial production of the SmartMCD TB9M001FTG is scheduled for December 2025. Toshiba will continue to expand its SmartMCD series product range for DC and BLDC motor control applications in the automotive industry.
