As the demand for more sophisticated control in battery-powered devices grows, so does the importance of sensors that detect parameters such as temperature, humidity, vibration, pressure, and flow rate, as well as the operational amplifiers used to amplify the signals from these sensors. At the same time, greater miniaturization and energy efficiency in applications are necessary to achieve a sustainable society, placing similar demands on individual devices as well.

In response to these constantly evolving market needs, ROHM has refined its process technologies, packaging, and proprietary Nano Energy™ circuit technology to develop an operational amplifier that meets three key requirements: lower power consumption, higher accuracy, and a compact size. The newly developed TLR1901GXZ achieves an ultra-compact size of less than 1 mm² thanks to the adoption of a WLCSP (Wafer Level Chip Scale Package) with a fine ball pitch of 0.35 mm, while delivering an industry-leading low operating current of 160 nA (typ.). This not only contributes to high-density assembly in space-constrained applications but also significantly extends battery life.
Furthermore, the TLR1901GXZ features an exceptionally low input balance voltage of only 0.55 mV (max.), among the best of any ultra-low current op-amp. This represents an approximate 45% reduction compared to typical products on the market. A maximum input balance voltage temperature drift of 7 µV/°C ensures high-precision operation across the entire operating temperature range.
Design flexibility can be further enhanced by combining the operational amplifier with ROHM's ultra-compact, general-purpose resistors, such as the MCR004 (0.402 metric / 0.1005 in) and MCR006 (0.603 metric / 0.201 in), for applications like gain tuning. The MCR004 series includes the MCR004E—an environmentally friendly, lead-free option designed to support the development of sustainable designs. Adapter boards with SSOP5 packaged ICs are also available to facilitate initial evaluation and replacement assessments.
In the future, ROHM will continue striving to further reduce the power consumption of operational amplifiers by advancing miniaturization and original ultra-low power technologies. At the same time, we are committed to improving device performance by reducing noise and offset, expanding supply voltage ranges, and contributing to solving societal problems through more precise application control.

What is Nano Energy™ technology?
Nano Energy™ refers to ROHM's patented ultra-low current consumption technology that achieves current consumption on the order of nanoamps (nA) by combining advanced analog technologies, covering circuit design, layout, and processes, using ROHM's vertically integrated production system.
This not only helps extend the runtime of battery-powered IoT and mobile devices but also improves efficiency in industrial and automotive equipment where increased energy consumption is problematic.
