However, when generating a warning sound using an MCU, the pitch and volume must be smoothly controlled, and the characteristics must be adjusted to suit the vehicle's geometry. This increases the software development burden for the MCU, which requires verification with other software processes within the MCU. In response, LAPIS Technology launched new products that help reduce the AVAS development burden by leveraging its expertise and technology with speech synthesis integrated circuits. The goal: to achieve high-fidelity sound through a novel hardware-based configuration.
The ML22120TB and ML22120GP integrate hardware features including a warning sound generator, fader, and equalizer. Unlike MCU-based designs, the hardware configuration eliminates the need for software validation, significantly reducing development time. At the same time, the dedicated GUI software simplifies compliance with the volume and frequency characteristics required for AVAS.
The new integrated circuit system can be controlled by simple commands, allowing the audible warning to be activated in less than a tenth of the time of conventional MCU-based systems. A built-in fault detection function detects both communication errors with the main controller and erroneous oscillations caused by external components, thus contributing to vehicle reliability.
