Omron's environmental sensor is now available for the first time as a USB device measuring just 14.9 x 29.1 x 7.0 mm. It can monitor temperature, humidity, light, UV, barometric pressure, noise, seismic activity, and air quality (volatile organic compounds). The sensor can record data for approximately three months (at a communication frequency of once every five minutes) and connect to various devices, such as smartphones, via Bluetooth 5.0.
Despite their compact size, 2JCIE sensors incorporate their own integrated memory for recording data and monitoring the environment. Potential applications include monitoring and controlling industrial and office environments to improve the workspace, as well as residential and outdoor applications.
Data from the modules can be downloaded via Bluetooth (BTLE), allowing designers easy access to the stored data. The 2JCIE environmental sensor is cloud-compatible without requiring any additional hardware. Threshold levels can be adjusted to trigger alerts that notify the user if the sensor detects any abnormal readings.
The 2JCIE, which has been certified to all required standards/directives in the EU, USA, and Japan, is FCC approved and CE marked. The BTLE connection has an approximate range of 10m, and the sensor has an operating temperature of -10 to 60 °C.
