The engine control system uses sensor data to optimize the air-fuel mixture, which reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. It also helps maximize performance and minimize engine noise.

The SMP580 comes in a 4.9 x 3.9 x 1.5 mm³ SOIC8 package. A Wheatstone bridge, along with piezoresistors, transforms the movement of a flexible diaphragm into electrical current, which is processed and calibrated by an integrated ASIC.
The new model offers long-term accuracy and stability, with a 12-bit digital SPI interface for pressure and temperature readings. Pressure readings have a tolerance accuracy of less than 1 kPa and temperature readings of less than 3 kPa.
The SMP580 has low power consumption, with a supply current of less than 5 mA. In standby mode, it consumes less than 15 µA. The temperature range is from -40 to +125 °C.
The sensor measurement range is from 40 to 115 kPa for motor control and from 60 to 165 kPa for seat-mounted systems.
The SMP580 automotive barometric pressure sensor can be used to adjust dynamic multi-contour seats. The sensors are integrated into the seat's air chambers, ensuring they adapt to the driver's or passenger's anatomy.
