bsiwebBSI tilt sensors are encapsulated in a compact and robust metal housing with an IP67 protection rating and can be easily installed in systems with limited space. With an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, they are specifically designed for outdoor applications.

These high-quality, high-precision sensors demonstrate their true potential when deviations from the horizontal or vertical axis need to be determined with high accuracy and resolution. Examples include wind energy installations, solar thermal power plants, oil and gas extraction facilities, and medical technology, such as tomography and irradiation systems.

Balluff tilt sensors (BSIs) are based on a capacitive measurement principle and are equipped with a liquid-based cell. This consists of four capacitors filled with a dielectric liquid. Depending on the sensor's tilt, the "horizon" of this medium covers the capacitors to varying degrees, causing the capacitance—a measure of the tilt angle—to change. The 4–20 mA analog output signal is linearly scaled over the 360° angular range.
