Based in Tokyo, EdgeCortix is a startup founded with the vision of creating a high-speed, low-power, AI-centric processor with a software-first approach for edge applications. The company's suite of proprietary AI chips and software products accelerates AI inference tasks with very low power consumption and low latency. EdgeCortix has launched three products: MERA, its multi-hardware-platform compiler software framework; Dynamic Neural Accelerator (DNA), its IP for a scalable and reconfigurable runtime neural network processor; and the low-power SAKURA AI coprocessor device. Together, they form an integrated solution, particularly well-suited for real-time artificial intelligence. EdgeCortix solutions can deliver up to 50 times greater energy efficiency and more than 10 times the performance of conventional GPUs and CPUs.
The partnership with EdgeCortix will support Renesas in streamlining and unifying its overall AI/ML (Machine Learning) developer expertise across its MCU and MPU portfolio, enabling a seamless back-end compilation layer that supports heterogeneous architectures.
Working with EdgeCortix provides Renesas with the ability to leverage its existing IP and hardware while harnessing EdgeCortix's expertise in key technology areas, including Apache TVM1, compiler development, and heterogeneous framework design. This partnership also gives Renesas access to the specialized hardware expertise EdgeCortix has developed leveraging Arm and other architectures, including Renesas' DRP-AI accelerator.
Lithium-ion BESSs reached 318 GWh of global deployments in 2025
Annual global deployments of stationary lithium-ion battery storage systems (Li-ion BESS) are projected to increase from 92 GWh in 2023 to 318 GWh in 2025, according to estimates from IDTechEx. This figure includes grid-scale, commercial and industrial (C&I) installations, and...
