With a wide input range based on railway standards, 72 (36-140) VDC or 110 (55-176) VDC, these converters are available with single, dual, or triple outputs, conforming to railway standards EN50155, NF F 01-510, and RIA12. Single, regulated outputs are 3.3, 5, 12, or 15 VDC; dual outputs are +/- 5, +/- 12, or +/- 15 VDC; and triple outputs are 3.3 VDC with +/- 12 or +/- 15 VDC, or a 5 VDC output with +/- 12 or +/- 15 VDC outputs.
These convection-cooled converters boast an efficiency of up to 91% and a power density of 37.5 Watts per cubic inch in a compact form factor measuring 25.4 x 50.8 x 10.16 mm. Under convection cooling, the operating temperature range is -40°C to +75°C. An optional heatsink extends this range to +80°C. The maximum enclosure temperature is +105°C. Isolation is provided by 1500 VAC between input and output, and 1600 VDC between the output/input and the metal enclosure.
The RDC30 series complies with the internationally recognized EMC standard EN50121-3-2, required in railway applications and “rolling stock” equipment
A remote On/Off function provides external control of the output, while a trim input allows the ability to adjust the output within +/- 10% of the nominal voltage.
Along with the RDC30 series, XP POWER includes the RDQ100/150 series, 100 and 150 Watts, with conduction cooling for railway applications.
The RDC30s are available from the specialist local distributor VENCO Electrónica SA in Spain and Portugal, as well as from Farnell, element14, and have a 3-year warranty.
