Texas Instruments ADS1257 24-Bit ADC Converter
Mouser Electronics, Inc. now has the Texas Instruments ADS1257 low-noise analog-to-digital converter available. The ADS1257 is a four-channel, 24-bit delta-sigma ADC with a low-noise programmable gain amplifier (PGA) in a small, 20-pin, 5 mm x 5 mm VQFN package.
The combination of integration, high conversion rate, and 24-bit resolution together in a small package makes the device ideal for space-constrained applications.
The Texas Instruments ADS1257 ADC offers four analog inputs with an input multiplexer that accepts either two differential or three simple input measurements. The integrated low-noise PGA provides gain adjustments from 1 to 64, and the selectable input buffer increases the input impedance, helping to reduce the need for external buffers. The ADC features programmable sampling rates up to 30 ksps and high DC performance, with an offset drift of only 4 nV/°C. The ADS1257 can operate from either a single 5V analog supply or a 1.8V–3.6V digital supply.
The ADS1257 communicates digital data via a three-wire SPI-compatible interface to simplify digital connections with external controllers. The ADS1257 ADC is suitable for industrial automation, instrumentation and process controls, test and measurement equipment, and medical electronics. The ADS1257 operates in temperatures ranging from -40 to +85 degrees Celsius and is compatible with the ADS1256EVM-PDK Performance Demonstration Kit, also available from Mouser Electronics. The ADS1256EVM-PDK combines an ADS1256EVM evaluation module with a DSP-based MMB0 motherboard, enabling developers to connect the evaluation module to a personal computer to test new designs.
