Both the output voltage and current are programmable from 0% to 105% of nominal values ​​via an RS232 serial port, I2C interface, a 0 to +5 VDC input, or an external potentiometer. Programming the output current achieves near-true current output with almost 0 volts at the output, significantly better than the industry standard, which typically drops to 20% or 40%.

The HDS800 series comprises six models covering common output voltages from +12 to +48 VDC, while the HDS1500 range includes several models from +12 to +60 VDC. The output voltage on both models can be adjusted by +/- 5% using a potentiometer to minimize losses on the load line. Both models also offer a user-selectable standby output of either 5 VDC / 0.5 Amp or 9 VDC / 0.3 Amp when AC input is present.

These power supplies include a range of signals and controls such as remote on/off, AC OK, remote sensor, PWM switching, and over-temperature cutoff. A multifunction LED indicates the power supply's status and provides warning signals using various colors and flashing patterns. Additionally, an I2C signal is provided for bidirectional data transmission between the power supply and an external controller/monitor.

A power-sharing function is also offered when the units operate in parallel, up to 5 units, for applications requiring higher power output or redundancy. This allows these models to be scalable for future power demands.

With a universal input range of 90 to 264 VAC, the HDS800/1500 series are ideal for use in any country. They have an extended temperature range of -10°C to +70°C (+60°C for the HDS1500) with no power limitation up to 50°C. They are approved according to internationally recognized safety standards IEC 60950-1 for IT, industrial, and commercial equipment. They also comply with EMI EN55022 Class B regulations for radiated and conducted radiation.

Typical applications for these HDS800/1500 models include use in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, battery chargers, and automatic testing equipment.
