The four new Toshiba controllers incorporate charge pump capacitors. This allows for even greater board space savings and reduces overall system costs.

The TB67S581FNG and TB67S580FNG are two-phase bipolar stepper motor drivers. Both devices offer a motor output voltage of up to 50 V, while the TB67S581FNG has an output current of up to 2.5 A and the TB67S580FNG up to 1.6 A.

The TB67H481FNG and TB67H480FNG are dual H-bridge constant current drivers, also with a motor output voltage of up to 50V and an output current of up to 2.5A. These integrated circuits can be used to drive brushed DC motors or bipolar stepper motors. The TB67H481FNG uses a pulse-width modulated (PWM) input, while the TB67H480FNG uses a PHASE/ENABLE input.

All four devices support motor supply voltages from 8.2 V to 44 V and consume less than 10 μA (typical) in standby mode. They are housed in HTSSOP28 packages measuring 6.4 mm x 9.7 mm. The mounting area of this package is approximately 39% smaller compared to the previous generation. The motor output turn-on resistance (RDS(ON)) is only 0.4 Ω (typical) for both the high and low sides (at 24 V when a 2 A output current is applied). Safety features include overcurrent detection, thermal shutdown, and undervoltage lockout.

The main applications for Toshiba's new controllers include multifunction printers, ATMs, surveillance cameras, factory automation, and robotics.

In addition to integrated motor driver circuits, there are compact evaluation boards. Created in collaboration with MikroElektronika, expanding their Click Board™ series, the Stepper 9 Click (TB67S581FNG), Stepper 20 Click (TB67S580FNG), DC Motor 13 Click (TB67H481FNG), and DC Motor 23 Click (TB67H480FNG) are compatible with a mikroSDK-compatible library, simplifying software development.
