New applications for Hall-effect sensor ICs and linear output ICs, such as displacement and angular position, require greater accuracy and smaller package sizes. Allegro's A1308 and A1309 devices have been specifically designed to meet both requirements. Target applications include EPS (Electrical Power Supply) torque sensing, EPS angle sensing, and transmission fork position sensing. These temperature-stable devices are available in surface-mount and through-hole packages.
The accuracy of each device is enhanced through end-of-line optimization. Each device features non-volatile memory to optimize device sensitivity and QVO (output in the absence of a magnetic field) for a given application or circuit. This optimized performance of the A1308 and A1309 is maintained across the entire operating temperature range by programming the temperature coefficient for sensitivity and QVO output in the Allegro end-of-line test. These ratiometric Hall effect sensor ICs provide a voltage output that is proportional to the applied magnetic field. The QVO output is set to approximately 50% of the supply voltage.
The characteristics of these linear devices make them ideal for use in industrial and automotive applications requiring high accuracy and operation across an extended temperature range, from -40°C to 150°C (SOT-23W) or from -40°C to 125°C (SIP). Each monolithic BiCMOS circuit integrates a Hall element, a temperature compensation circuit to reduce the Hall element's intrinsic sensitivity deviation, a high-gain, small-signal amplifier, a fixed low-impedance output stage, and a patented dynamic compensation cancellation technique.
The A1308 and A1309 sensor ICs are offered in two package types. The LH is a miniature, low-profile SOT-23W package for surface-mount applications. The UA is an ultramini, 3-pin single inline package (SIP) for through-hole mounting. Both types are lead-free (Pb) with 100% matte tin-plated lead plating.
