These new transducers are based on LEM's most advanced ASIC technology, which has also been applied in the recently introduced LF xx10 series of current transducers. When used in closed-loop mode, the Hall-effect-based ASIC delivers performance comparable to more expensive technologies such as magnetic induction. This new family leverages these advantages with lower current ratings of 8, 12, 25, 50, and 100 A.

The LH 50-P and LH 100-P models are designed for nominal 50 and 100A respectively, while the LH 25-NP is a multi-range model that can be configured for 8, 12 or 25A, thus offering the equivalent of three transducers in a single device.

The new series breaks new ground by increasing overall accuracy across the temperature range by 3.5 times compared to the previous generation of closed-loop Hall effect transducers. Overall accuracy of up to 0.5% of IPN is maintained across the entire temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, with a maximum offset drift of 0.1% of IPN.

Thanks to its performance, comparable to magnetic induction, engineers can achieve better control and increased system efficiency, thus providing significant added value to the end application, such as more precise robot movement or reduced energy consumption. These advantages are realized by eliminating drawbacks of magnetic induction such as noise, starting problems with primary current flow, and delays before restarting after an overload.

The LH models, which operate on a dual supply voltage of +/- 12 to +/- 15V, can measure floor currents up to 2.2 times the nominal current on the primary side, as well as respond quickly to a di/dt step with a response time of less than 0.5 µs.

This new range is an updated version, with enhanced features and full compatibility with LEM's previous LAH range. It occupies the same footprint and provides the same functionality. Therefore, it can be easily installed in existing systems and offers various compact sizes for each current range, without compromising the high level of isolation between the primary and measuring circuits.

Industrial applications such as variable frequency drives, servomotor drives, uninterruptible power supplies and switched-mode power supplies, battery-powered installations, power supplies (especially for welding systems), air conditioning, household appliances, static converters for DC motor drives, and robotics are integrating an increasing number of transducers. This allows engineers to achieve high levels of control and automation that improve the performance and energy efficiency of a wide variety of products.

The LH series current transducers are CE marked and comply with the EN 50178 standard; they also come with LEM's five-year warranty.
