To amplify small signals with the accuracy required for high-precision detection, operational amplifiers must improve low input balance voltage and noise performance, while shrinking the form factor.

The TLR377GYZ achieves a balance between miniaturization and high precision (which had been difficult to achieve with conventional operational amplifiers) through a refinement of the patented circuit design, process, and packaging technologies perfected over many years.

The input balance voltage of operational amplifiers and noise generation degrade amplification accuracy and can be suppressed by increasing the size of the built-in transistors, but at the cost of miniaturization. In response, ROHM has developed patented circuitry that achieves a maximum balance voltage of as little as 1 mV without increasing transistor size. Furthermore, the patented process technology greatly reduces flicker noise, while ultra-low noise is achieved with an equivalent input noise voltage density of 12 nV/√Hz by optimizing resistive components at the element level. Additionally, the new product adopts a WLCSP (Wafer Level Chip Scale Package) with a ball pitch of only 0.3 mm, utilizing the original packaging technology. This reduces the size by approximately 69% compared to conventional products and by 46% compared to existing compact products.

Also available is an integrated circuit-mounted conversion board that can replace SSOP6 packages to support replacement considerations and initial evaluation. Both the new product and the evaluation board are available for purchase through online distributors. Additionally, the high-precision SPICE model—called the ROHM Real Model—is available on the ROHM website for verification simulations.

In the future, in addition to further miniaturization and precision, ROHM will continue to improve the performance of operational amplifiers by further reducing power consumption through a patented ultra-low current consumption technology.

High-precision simulation models: ROHM Real Models.
ROHM Real Models are high-precision SPICE models that use original model-based technology to faithfully reproduce the electrical and temperature characteristics of the actual integrated circuit, resulting in a perfect match between the integrated circuit values and those in the simulation. This ensures reliable verification and contributes to more efficient application development, for example, by eliminating rework after prototyping. ROHM Real Models are now available on the ROHM website.
