This enables precise output voltage regulation, fewer components, and configuration options for operation across a very wide input voltage range, from 30 V to 1200 V.

Using a StackFET approach, the new device is suitable for 900 V and higher bus designs.”
The AEC-Q100-regulated InnoSwitch3-AQ switching ICs achieve up to 90% efficiency across the entire load range and consume less than 15 mW under no-load conditions. The output power is up to 20 W at an ambient temperature of 85 °C and a 400 VDC input for the 900 V family. The devices incorporate a Quasi-Resonant (QR)/CCM/DCM flyback multimode controller, a 900 V switch, and a high-speed FluxLink communication link from Power Integrations, enabling precise regulation in the compact InSOP24 package and providing enhanced isolation up to 5500 m altitude. The InnoSwitch3-AQ ICs operate up to 30 VDC, allowing automotive designers to use the device in emergency power applications for traction inverters.
The InnoSwitch3-AQ family of devices includes multiple protection features for automotive applications, such as input overvoltage and undervoltage protection, output overvoltage and overcurrent limiting, and over-temperature shutdown.
A new design reference, DER-889Q, is available, describing a 15 W power supply that supports an input from 30 VDC to 1200 VDC and an output of 12 V/1.25 A. Another resource, DER-859Q (30 VDC to 921 VDC), describes the operation of the InnoSwitch3-AQ in 800 V bus applications with a power rating of up to 30 W. Both designs utilize PI's StackFET technology. Additional circuitry can be omitted for the 400 VDC designs. The new InnoSwitch3-AQ ICs (INN3996CQ) are priced at $2 in volume quantities.
