The new series of smart power modules includes IGBT-based modules optimized for low- and high-speed operation, as well as MOSFET-based IPMs incorporating ROHM's PrestoMOS™ technology.
The modules include 10, 15, and 20 A versions for 600 V IGBT-IPMs. A 30 A version is under development.
These modules, featuring innovative aluminum technology based on Silicon-on-Isolator (SOI), provide improved high-voltage capability, high-temperature conductivity, and low leakage current, simultaneously preventing latch-up effects.
For enhanced reliability, the IC also incorporates additional protection features such as current limiting for the bootstrap diode, under-voltage lockout for floating loads, fault output, thermal shutdown, and short-circuit protection, as well as FWD (IGBT version) to eliminate flyback. Designers can choose from various configurations integrating either IGBTs or MOSFETs.
The new IPMs can be used in inverters and motor control for household appliances, air conditioning equipment, washing machines and refrigerators, and small industrial motors.
