Microchip Technology Inc. has announced a complete ecosystem based on dsPIC33C AUTOSAR-ready digital signal controllers (DSCs) to enable rapid development and a high level of system optimization, as well as reduce the total system cost.
Microchip expands its powerful DSC dsPIC33C portfolio to cover the large-memory segment with the new ISO 26262-compliant dsPIC33CK1024MP7xx family. This new family of DSC dsPIC33Cs with 1 MB of Flash memory enables applications to run automotive software such as drivers for AUTOSAR, OS, MCAL, ISO 26262 functional safety diagnostics, and safety libraries. The DSC dsPIC33 family also includes a high-performance CPU (Central Processing Unit) with deterministic response and specialized peripherals for general automotive applications, advanced sensing and control, digital power supply, and motor control.
“AUTOSAR-ready dsPIC33C DSCs enable designers to achieve a high level of system optimization by implementing AUTOSAR-based applications, functional safety objectives, and safety use cases on a single microcontroller, while also meeting demanding automotive application requirements,” said Joe Thomsen, vice president of the MCU16 business unit at Microchip Technology. “This opens up a world of opportunities for designers who want to work with Microchip and get into advanced electromobility, sensing, and control applications.”
The advantage of adopting AUTOSAR-ready devices like this one is that customers can improve their risk and complexity management, as well as reduce development time through reuse. Customers who have already designed bare-metal or non-AUTOSAR automotive applications and are now adopting AUTOSAR can take a step forward with the DSC dsPIC33C ecosystem and continue to benefit from Microchip's value-added solutions, customer support, and product advantages with the new AUTOSAR-ready DSC dsPIC33C. The AUTOSAR ecosystem for DSC dsPIC33C includes Vector's MICROSAR Classic, KPIT Technologies Ltd.'s KSAR OS, and Microchip's ASPICE- and ASIL-B-compliant MCAL drivers.
“We have collaborated with other companies to offer an integrated solution to simplify development for automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers,” said Matthias Kaestner, vice president of Microchip’s automotive products business unit. “The integrated solution provides guidance on AUTOSAR-based development. It simplifies the evaluation of an AUTOSAR 4.3.x-based electronic control unit (ECU) project and allows customers to quickly become familiar with AUTOSAR-ready dsPIC33-based DSC systems.”
Microchip has expanded its functional security packages, which include FMEDA reports, security manuals, and diagnostic libraries for the ISO 26262 compliant dsPIC33CK1024MP7xx DSCs. These AUTOSAR-ready dsPIC33C DSCs, along with Microchip's TA100 CryptoAutomotive™ security integrated circuits, enable robust security implementation in automotive designs.
