The new products join the TCK421G, announced earlier this year. The series products can be selected for a gate source voltage of either 10V or 5.6V, enabling their use with a wide variety of MOSFETs. A selection of sensing voltages for input overvoltage blocking allows them to operate with power lines from 5V to 24V. The available drivers are the TCK420G for 24V power lines, the TCK422G and TCK423G for 12V, the TCK424G for 9V, and the TCK425G for 5V.

Each of the new drivers in the series features a built-in charge pump that ensures a stable gate source voltage on the external MOSFET while the input can vary from 2.7V to 28V. This allows for switching large currents. Furthermore, when used to drive two back-to-back N-channel MOSFETs, they are suitable for configuring load switching circuits or reverse-current blocking power multiplexers.

Housed in a 1.2 mm x 0.8 mm WCSP6G package, one of the smallest in the industry[1], Toshiba's TCK42xG gate drivers occupy minimal space, enabling high-density mounting in space-constrained portable products. They also feature a low inrush current (IQ(OFF)) of 0.5 μA (maximum, at VIN=5V), which helps extend battery life.

To further assist customer projects, Toshiba has developed the Power Multiplexer Circuit Reference Design, which provides a design example for power multiplexers utilizing the features of the TCK42xG.
