This highly advanced, open-source IC meets the growing demand for LIN-based RGB ambient lighting systems and can directly control up to four LEDs thanks to its integrated constant current sources. Each output can be programmed up to a maximum current of 35 mA using the onboard Flash memory. All necessary components, such as the physical layer LIN transceiver, LIN controller, voltage regulator, and 16-bit RISC microcontroller, as well as other functions like the A/D converter, 16-bit PWM generator, constant current and high-voltage outputs, and LED trigger monitoring capabilities, are integrated on the chip.
The combination of the LIN controller with up to 32 kByte of Flash memory and the LIN controller, along with the directly controlled constant current and high-voltage outputs, facilitates rapid implementation in RGB ambient lighting modules. The high level of integration of the MLX81106 greatly reduces both the bill of materials and the board footprint, thus facilitating the development of significantly smaller LIN RGB ambient lighting modules. It also includes LIN autoconfiguration capabilities and can therefore be used for other applications requiring a low-pin, fully integrated LIN slave circuit. The LIN protocol handling complies with all LIN standards, including LIN2.x and SAE J2602.
The MLX81106 is supplied in an SOIC8 package with alloy leads to provide excellent thermal performance while maintaining a low cost.
