The new module has been specially optimized to simplify the design of blade server applications based on ATCA and PICMG 3.7 systems. The module is also well-suited for storage and server systems in any industrial, telecommunications, and data communications application that uses distributed power or intermediate bus voltage architectures.

It is important to note that the use of Ericsson's low-EMI design techniques in the PIM4610PD ensures that minimal external filtering is required to meet the CISPR Class B EMC standards for information and communication technology systems. Ripple and noise characteristics have been minimized, while the circuit design has been simplified, resulting in reduced costs and fewer system components without compromising performance.

Based on Ericsson's cutting-edge energy optimization platform, the PIM4610PD operates on an input range of 36V to 75V. The module also delivers industry-leading high-power performance, offering 864W at 54V, 768W at 48V, and 600W at 37.5V. Its efficiency is again industry-leading, achieving up to 98.8% at 600W for the main unit, resulting in reduced energy and cooling costs.

The PIM also offers a digital monitoring function and a wide range of power monitoring capabilities via its I2C/PMBus interface. Other features of the PIM4610PD include protection against input transients, reverse polarity, over-temperature, overcurrent, undervoltage, and inrush current. Furthermore, the PIM has a configurable feature that enables a well-controlled shutdown procedure. This feature allows the Power Good pin to be de-asserted when the input power is determined to be below a certain level, thus protecting semiconductor devices such as CPUs and FPGAs.

The module also features integrated hot-swap functionality and charge and discharge management. Inputs include dual power supplies with ORing and enable signaling capabilities. Other specifications include: 3.3V output power management up to 7A; an MTBF of 2.66 million hours, in accordance with Telcordia SR-332 Issue 2, Method 1; and 2250Vdc isolation, meeting the latest IEC/EN/UL62368-1 safety standard.

Available in the industry standard quarter brick format, which measures 57.9 x 36.8 x 21.33mm (2.28 x 1.45 x 0.84in).
