With six available variants, the SRK1004 series allows designers to choose between logic-level or standard MOSFET gate control and a turn-off delay of 25 ns or 150 ns to compensate for drain inductance. Suitable for active, resonant, and quasi-resonant flyback topologies, the drivers also include a circuit that generates a turn-on window to prevent unwanted switching. The output can absorb up to 1.6 A and supply 0.6 A to the gate, while the 500 kHz switching frequency enables a compact and cost-effective design.
Leveraging ST's robust silicon-on-insulator (SOI) process, the SRK1004 can drive the MOSFET in either low-side or high-side configurations with a drain-source voltage up to 190 V. With a wide supply voltage range of 4 V to 36 V, the IC can be powered from the converter output in low-side configuration or from the transformer in high-side configuration. This allows designers to avoid a dedicated auxiliary power supply, thus minimizing the bill of materials. The SRK1004 includes a linear regulator that powers the IC's internal circuitry and gate driver, as well as providing power on an output pin for external circuitry.
Six individual evaluation boards, EVLSRK1004A-F, are available to quickly get started on new projects and determine the most suitable SRK1004 variant for the converter circuit and MOSFET.
The SRK1004 is already in production in a thermally enhanced 6-pin DFN package.
