Smartphones with V-Sensors, wearables, and mobile devices are convenient—consumers are accustomed to banking, messaging, taking photos, and managing many aspects of their lives with their phones. V-Sensor now brings the measurement of vital signs for personal health to these same devices. Along with the phone, the V-Sensor and e-Checkup are effectively free for the consumer, just like a phone's camera.

At CES 2021, the first standalone miniature V-Sensor device, which delivers results to a smartphone via Bluetooth, will be launched. Visitors to the all-digital CES will also be able to see a live video demonstration of the V-Sensor and e-Checkup measuring blood pressure on a smartphone.

Developed over the past nine years, the V-Sensor is a small module with a finger-shaped depression on its surface, containing a MEMS pressure sensor embedded in flexible resin. The V-Sensor also contains an optical sensor, a temperature sensor, and LMD's custom Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) that conditions and digitizes the sensor signals and drives the LEDs and communication.

First-generation fitness monitors measure activity (such as measurements taken over time), while current second-generation devices measure simpler health metrics, such as heart rate. The V-Sensor heralds the third generation of mobile, wearable, and phone-based personal health monitors. It provides clinically accurate vital signs, including blood pressure. The V-Sensor requires no calibration, allowing users to check their own blood pressure regularly and easily—a major advancement in personal health because hypertension is a silent killer of more than 10 million* people a year, but easily treatable if you know you have it.
