HumidIcon™ sensors provide a cost-effective solution for device and system developers looking to reduce design time and time to market, while also saving board space.
The proven accuracy of Honeywell HumidIcon™ sensors eliminates the need for individual testing and calibration because there is no part-to-part accuracy variation, reducing manufacturing time. Long-term stability, superior to other products in the industry, helps maintain system life by eliminating the need for servicing or sensor replacement during the application's lifetime. Regular sensor recalibration, which can be inconvenient and costly, is also unnecessary. Competitive humidity sensors require a 12-hour rehydration process at 75% RH (requiring specialized chambers) to correct for reflux temperature drift. The Honeywell sensor requires only five hours of rehydration under ambient conditions (>50% RH).
The true temperature-compensated I2C or SPI digital output allows customers to remove signal conditioning components from the printed circuit board, freeing up space and reducing associated costs (e.g., procurement, inventory, and assembly). This true temperature-compensated I2C or SPI digital output typically eliminates problems that can arise from having multiple signal conditioning components on the board and simplifies microprocessor integration, as complex, customer-implemented signal conditioning is no longer required.
The HumidIcon™ series (6000, 7000, 8000, and 9000) offers customers a choice of housing style (4-pin SIP or SOIC-8 SMD), filter (hydrophobic filter or no filter), output (I2C or SPI), and packaging (tape and box, tape and reel, or tape samples). Please refer to the HumidIcon™ datasheets for product specifications.
“Honeywell’s HumidIcon™ series provides the lowest total cost of ownership solution by offering the industry’s best combined temperature/humidity sensor,” said Jacqueline Leff, senior manager of global product marketing at Honeywell. “It allows for temperature compensation to be applied to relative humidity measurements and offers a second, independent temperature sensor output, so users can purchase only one sensor instead of two.”

Combined temperature and relative humidity (RH) sensors with HumidIcon™ digital output
Honeywell introduces the new 6000, 7000, 8000, and 9000 series of HumidIcon™ combination temperature and relative humidity (RH) sensors with digital output. Designed primarily for medical, HVAC, and industrial applications, these new sensors offer superior accuracy, stability, and long-term reliability compared to other products in the industry, and also provide I2C or SPI digital output with true temperature compensation.
