Fiber optic detection, which uses light instead of electricity and standard optical fiber instead of copper cable, can solve this problem.
Advances in manufacturing technologies, optoelectronics, and assembly and connectorization techniques also contribute to bringing more innovative and efficient solutions to market.
For these reasons, the COFITEL Group offers T&S's FGB (Fiber Bragg Grating) sensor and interrogator program for industrial control applications.
Available in various configurations, T&S products meet the requirements of projects seeking the advantages of fiber optics: security, transmission distance, and noise immunity.
FGB filters are becoming the core components of a wide range of applications in the fields of telecommunications, lasers, and detection. And, thanks to a special filtering technology (apodization), they exceed the most demanding stability and reliability requirements.
Therefore, the FGB sensors and interrogators distributed by the COFITEL Group are particularly well-suited for civil engineering, power plant, and petrochemical applications.
Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) Sensors:
FBG sensors essentially consist of a type of Bragg grating on a short segment of optical fiber. This grating causes the reflection of specific wavelengths of light while transmitting the rest. This is achieved through the periodic variation of the refractive index of the fiber core, which creates a series of dielectric mirrors for specific wavelengths.
In this way, a fiber Bragg grating can be used as a selective filter, included in series, to block or select certain wavelengths.
By using the appropriate sensors and interrogators, it is possible to generate periodic reports of changes in voltage and temperature.
