absolute-pressure-sensor-wOmron's new 2SMPB-01-01 absolute pressure sensor is the company's most accurate pressure sensor to date, providing readings relative to a perfect vacuum down to ±6 Pa. The module measures a maximum of only 3.8 mm x 3.8 mm x 1 mm, small enough to be integrated into portable instruments. It features an I2C output for easy integration into digital electronics.

The sensor uses piezoresistance in a full-bridge circuit to detect pressure, and its full temperature compensation provides an absolute temperature accuracy of ±2°C. The 2SMPB-01-01 offers the advantage of low power consumption, typically only 9 µA, further simplifying its integration into portable or battery-powered electronic systems.

The 2SMPB-01-01 can operate in three modes: standard, high accuracy, and low power. The product is supplied in an 8-pin QFN package with surface-mount terminals.

The new absolute pressure sensor complements Omron's established range of gauge and differential pressure sensors. Omron's MEMS-based 2SMPP-03 and 2SMPP-02 gauge pressure sensors offer accurate measurements between -50 kPa and +50 kPa, and 0 and 37 kPa, respectively. They are also based on the piezoresistive principle and are ideal for medical applications such as negative pressure wound therapy, as well as leak detection, motion monitoring, level indicators, household appliances, and industrial control instruments. Both devices share exceptionally compact external dimensions of just 6.1 x 4.7 x 8.2 mm.
