pressure-sensor-wThe MLX90815 is designed to provide optimal performance in determining absolute pressures between 0 and 30 bar, while the MLX90816 covers full-scale absolute pressures between 30 and 50 bar. Both are characterized by a maximum linearity deviation of only 0.2% of full scale. The typical sensitivity for the MLX90815 is 1.5 mV/V/bar, and for the MLX90816 it is 0.5 mV/V/bar.

The sensing element incorporated in each of these MEMS devices consists of a piezoresistive Wheatstone bridge connected to a micromachined silicon pressure diaphragm manufactured using Melexis' proprietary process technology. As pressure is applied to the diaphragm, a differential voltage is generated between the Wheatstone bridge outputs while a bias voltage is applied to the bridge inputs.

The MLX90815 and MLX90816 pressure sensors are supported by the company's own high-performance sensor interface chips (such as the MLX90320) for output signal conditioning. These sensors are particularly well-suited for various tire pressure monitoring applications in automobiles, as well as in industrial process controls, household appliances, medical equipment, and consumer electronics.

With an operating temperature range of -40°C to 150°C for both models, the MLX90815 and MLX90816 are capable of stable operation under the most demanding conditions. These devices can be used directly in conventional non-corrosive/non-aggressive environments or incorporated into oil-filled sensor modules for increased robustness.
