Omron's new 2JCIE-BL01 sensor, designed for the growing number of autonomous Internet of Things systems, measures temperature, humidity, light, UV index, barometric pressure, noise, and acceleration. Despite its compact size, the 2JCIE incorporates its own embedded memory for data logging to monitor the environment. Potential applications include monitoring and controlling industrial and office environments to improve the workspace. It is also suitable for home and outdoor applications.

Data from the module can be downloaded via Bluetooth (BTLE), allowing designers easy access to the stored data. The module has very low power consumption; in fact, it can operate on a standard 3VDC lithium battery for approximately six months, depending on the measurement interval. The 2JCIE environmental sensor is cloud-compatible and requires no additional hardware. Custom threshold values can be set to trigger alerts that notify the user of any abnormal sensor readings.

The 2JCIE, certified to all necessary EU, US, and Japanese regulations/directives, is FCC approved and CE marked. Measuring just 46 x 39 x 15 mm and weighing only 16 g, it can be integrated into any system. The BTLE connection has a range of approximately 10 m, and the sensor operates in temperatures from -10 to 60°C.
