The various sensors in the HL-G2 series cover a measuring range of 25 mm to 400 mm and are suitable for tasks requiring high-precision measurements, such as dispenser control.
Angelika Selzle, Product Manager for sensors at Panasonic Industry, points out another very interesting application of the HL-G2 series: "For machine manufacturers, predictive maintenance is a key factor in reducing downtime and increasing efficiency. With the HL-G2 series, a predictive maintenance framework can be easily established: The sensors inspect the machine component in question, for example, the blade of a cutting tool, and continuously measure its thickness. If the thickness falls below a predefined value, it's time to change the blade to avoid poor cutting results."
Particularly useful for these types of applications is the universal communication via EtherNet/IP and the fact that the HL-G2 series transmits measurement data directly in digital format. This last feature eliminates the risk of errors when it is necessary to convert analog values into digital ones.

Panasonic HL-G2 sensor series
