By using the SmartEdge Agile with Octonion's new Brainium portal and AI Studio, users will have access to a no-code machine learning tool that enables designers and manufacturers to embed intelligence into their designs. The Brainium portal can be used to initiate proof-of-concept testing by leveraging over 20 pre-built AI algorithms that can be reused until product launch. The SmartEdge Agile has an embedded Brainium software agent that enables interfacing with AI Studio and facilitates a comprehensive IoT solution, allowing customers to focus on their use cases.
Ralf Buehler, SVP Product, Marketing and eCommerce at Premier Farnell and Farnell element14, said: “As the leading distributor, Farnell element14 focuses on helping customers in the early design stages incorporate greater capabilities into their designs through smart technology. SmartEdge Agile is a revolutionary product in this field, bringing artificial intelligence to the edge of IoT solutions. With easy drag-and-drop programming, this intelligence is now available even to users with no programming experience.”.
“With SmartEdge Agile and the Brainium portal, we are creating essential software in addition to hardware to offer even better value to our customers,” explained Lou Lutostanski, VP, Internet of Things at Avnet. “Our customers continually require artificial intelligence and edge security when building their IoT projects. The dynamic solution and portal combination not only meets these requirements but also brings us closer to our customers and is shaping the future of how IoT projects are developed and implemented.”.
“Until now, engineers have used their creativity to create IoT solutions with technologies like Arduino or Raspberry Pi, but with AI Studio they can now incorporate artificial intelligence capabilities into their products,” said Cédric Mangaud, CEO of Octonion. “We’ve been working on our AI technology for four years, and I’m confident that this machine learning tool, together with SmartEdge Agile, will help users build AI models quickly and easily, making the process more efficient and productive than before.”.
The SmartEdge Agile is CE and FCC certified and features Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy. Its internal battery is rechargeable via USB Type-C. The device is based on an 80 MHz Brainium STM32 chip with an ARM Cortex M4. The sensor board includes two 3D accelerometers, a 3D gyroscope, a 3D magnetometer, a pressure sensor, a humidity and temperature sensor, a microphone, an ambient light sensor, and a proximity sensor, all from STMicroelectronics. The SmartEdge Agile also integrates a secure element to ensure authentication, encryption, and data integrity. The device is modularly constructed at different levels: the sensor board, the connectivity board, and the USB Type-C connector allow for customization to meet specific customer requirements.
The Brainium portal offers designers, entrepreneurs, and makers:
• An easy and intuitive drag-and-drop widget-based interface (features including device monitoring, provisioning, and management) with real-time information about their SmartEdge devices.
• Device data exports
• AI Studio for motion and vibration analysis
• A comprehensive SmartEdge Agile cloud security model
SmartEdge Agile is available for sale at Newark element14 in North America, Farnell element14 in Europe, and element14 in Asia Pacific.
