These are compact, ultra-low-power buck regulators that allow designers to extend battery life in portable devices with some of the highest power conversion efficiencies for very low loads available on the market. The ADP5301, which delivers 90 percent efficiency and draws a quiescent current of only 180 nA, offers maximum power and extended battery life, making these devices an ideal solution for various Internet of Things applications.
The Analog Devices ADP5301 ultra-low-power, high-efficiency buck regulators, available through Mouser Electronics, feature a startup input voltage range of 2.15 V to 6.5 V, enabling designers to incorporate a variety of battery or other power sources and architectures. The ADP5301 devices incorporate a voltage monitoring function that enhances system reliability, and the device's output voltage can be selected from 0.8 V to 5.0 V using an external VID resistor and a factory-installed fuse. The complete solution requires only four tiny external components, helping to meet even the most demanding board space requirements.
The ADP5301's flexible power management capabilities are achieved through a user-selectable SYNC/MODE pin. This pin allows the regulator to operate between hysteresis mode and a low-noise, forced PWM mode. In PWM mode, the regulator generates lower output ripple and delivers an output current of up to 500 mA, while in hysteresis mode, the regulator achieves excellent efficiency at power levels below 1 mW and delivers an output current of up to 50 mA. This on-the-fly switching configuration provides extremely efficient power management functionality, contributing to extended battery life and meeting system noise requirements. Other key features of the ADP5301 include separate turn-on and fast output discharge, as well as safety features such as overcurrent protection, thermal shutdown, and input undervoltage lockout.
The ultra-low-power, high-efficiency ADP5301 buck regulators from Analog Devices, now available through Mouser Electronics, are supplied in a 1.65 mm × 1.87 mm, 9-ball WLCSP package requiring less than 3.1 mm² for mounting. The ADP5301 targets a wide range of low-power Internet of Things applications, including energy meters (gas and water), wearables, wireless sensor networks, portable and battery-powered equipment, medical devices, and always-on power supplies. In addition, the ADP5301 has the support of an evaluation board, the 584-ADP5301-EVALZ, also supplied through the Mouser Electronics website.
Mouser Electronics, Inc. now carries Analog Devices' ADP5301 ultra-low power, high-efficiency buck regulators. The ADP5301, part of Analog Devices' broad line of power management solutions,
