The LYTSwitch-3 ICs feature programmable dimming profiles, allowing designers to optimize the drivers for dimming range and efficiency. The deep dimming response is also programmable, extending the dimming range, or the load-off mode can be activated to eliminate glare. When no dimmer is connected or the dimmer is set to full conduction, the dimmer's IC management circuitry is turned off, improving efficiency. Uniquely, the new driver continuously manages the power factor, even in dimming mode, minimizing apparent power consumption (VA) as the bulb is dimmed and preventing power quality leaks in large lighting installations. The LYTSwitch-3 ICs also include a backfold thermal feature that automatically dims the light output to compensate for inadequate cooling or high ambient temperature, preventing damage and extending lamp life.
With a power factor greater than 0.9 and THD of less than 10%, the LYTSwitch-3 driver IC meets all international efficiency standards, including EN61000-3-2, CEC Title 20, CEC Title 24, and ENERGY STAR®. The integrated circuits also provide 3% constant current (DC) accuracy across the load, line, and device. Like all Power Integrations products, the highly integrated devices include comprehensive protection features while requiring fewer external components than competing discrete designs, improving reliability and reducing bill of materials costs and PCB footprint.
