The MOSFET gate driver outputs allow for motor currents that can be scaled to meet application requirements. A user-friendly GUI interface enables rapid evaluation and a shorter time to market. Key automotive applications include seating, batteries, infotainment systems, and headlight cooling fans.
The motor speed is controlled by applying a duty cycle command to the speed (SPD) input. The SPD input can operate over a wide frequency range. A sinusoidal voltage profile is applied to the motor windings at startup for quiet starting and to gradually increase the motor speed. This new device has an input voltage rating from 5.5 to 50 V and an operating range from -40°C to 150°C.
The A5932 is available in a 24-pin, 4x4 mm QFN package with an exposed thermal pad (suffix ES) and a 24-pin TSSOP package with an exposed thermal pad (suffix LP). The QFN package is supplied with a wettable side, allowing visual inspection of the PCB solder. These packages are lead-free (Pb) with a 100% matte tin-plated lead coating.
Allegro MicroSystems Europe has announced a new sensorless BLDC controller, the most advanced solution on the market today. The Allegro A5932 for automotive applications is a three-phase BLDC motor controller solution designed for high-power automotive fan applications with very low vibration and audible noise requirements.
