The TC78H610FNG is an H-bridge driver for low-voltage DC brushed motor applications, such as those used in household appliances and battery-powered equipment. Delivered in an SSOP16 package, it can reduce the required mounting surface area by 21% compared to conventional products with similar functionality in SSOP20 packages. This allows for a reduction in equipment size and PCB cost.
The TC78H610FNG can control two DC brushed motors or one stepper motor. It has an operating voltage range of 2.5 to 15 V and a maximum output current of 1.0 A. The output ON resistance is 1.2 Ω (typical).
The second new IC, the TB67Z800FTG, is a 3-channel half-bridge driver incorporating six dual diffused metal-oxide-semiconductor (DMOS) MOSFETs. It can control a three-phase brushless motor by switching the DMOS on/off with input signals from an MCU. The device includes trip current protection, so its logic circuit prevents the DMOS from being switched to higher and lower levels simultaneously. This capability offloads responsibility from the microcontroller, reducing the load on the MCU.
The TB67Z800FTG operates from 4 to 22 V and has a maximum output current of 3 A. It is supplied in a lead-free 5 x 5 x 0.9 mm VQFN package, allowing it to be mounted on a small cooling fan, and features a heatsink pad for further improved cooling.
Both devices incorporate overvoltage protection, thermal shutdown circuitry, and an undervoltage lockout circuit for enhanced safety.
