IR7007-wIR's new digital controllers meet Intel's VR12 and VR12.5 specifications and support multiphase designs from 1 to 8 phases operating with 1 or 2 loops. These digital controllers can be used in conjunction with any of the seven new PowIRstage® products to deliver a high-performance, end-to-end multiphase solution optimized for CPU and DDR memory applications.
These next-generation CHiL controllers offer improvements over the previous generation, including a significant expansion of the PMBus™ instruction set, a substantial reduction in quiescent current to enable higher efficiency peaks, min/max telemetry recording, and an improved high-speed phase balancing algorithm.
The company's new PowIRstage® solutions integrate a high-performance driver, synchronous control, and MOSFETs with integrated and precise temperature-compensated current sensing supervision and provide cycle-to-cycle overcurrent protection as well as self-protection against adverse circuit operating conditions such as inductor saturation. Temperature sensing, monitoring, and overcurrent protection are also available, along with a fault alert output. These PowIRstage® devices are supplied in 6x6mm PQFN packages with current ratings of 40A, 50A, and 60A, in overmolded and exposed-top versions, offering the flexibility needed for optimal thermal design.
IR provides custom demo boards and fully documented reference designs. These digital CHiL power solutions are fully supported by IR's real-time GUI for design and development, and include hardware interface tools for communicating with and programming the CHiL devices.
