TI's CC3235MODx SimpleLink series modules integrate a 40 MHz crystal, 32.768 kHz RTC clock, SPI serial flash, RF filters, diplexer, and passive components, along with a network processor that handles all Wi-Fi and Internet logic layers. The network processor subsystem completely offloads the host microcontroller and includes a dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz 802.11a/b/g/n radio, baseband, and MAC with a powerful hardware cryptography engine.
The CC3235MODx devices offer new capabilities that simplify IoT application connectivity. These features include 802.11a/n 5 GHz support, coexistence capabilities for 2.4 GHz radios (such as Bluetooth® Low Energy), antenna selection, enhanced security with FIPS 140-2 Level 1 certification, up to 16 concurrent secure TCP/IP connections, and a Certificate Signing Request (CSR).
The CC3235MODx modules are available in two variants: CC3235MODS and CC3235MODSF. The CC3235MODS incorporates an Arm® Cortex®-M4 microcontroller with 256 KB of application RAM, IoT network security, and device identity/keys. The CC3235MODSF is based on the CC3235MODS and incorporates 1 MB of dedicated user-defined executable flash memory, in addition to the 256 KB of RAM. Both variants offer microcontroller-level security features such as file system encryption, user IP (microcontroller image) encryption, secure boot, and debug security.
The CC3235MODx modules are compatible with the TI CC3235MODSF LaunchPad™ development kit. The kit includes one CC3235MODSF module and features onboard emulation using the XDS-110, along with a sensor suite for a comprehensive experience and rapid development. The board's 40-pin LaunchPad pinout allows designers to incorporate additional boards from the BoosterPack™ ecosystem. Engineers can connect the board directly to a PC for use with development tools such as Code Composer Studio™ Cloud Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and IAR Embedded Workbench.
